This class would suit: Small flock owners. Those who have some experience of lambing or are beginning to work with sheep. Those who work with larger flocks and are involved in the breeding cycle. This class is particularly applicable for those farming in Northern California, particularly Mendocino, Sonoma, Humboldt, Napa, Marin.
Biosecurity: As always, biosecurity is a priority at HREC to protect our flock, your flock, and you and all of our families. As endemic diseases tend to cycle through flocks, this year soremouth is circulating through the HREC sheep. We are taking extra precautions to minimize the risk to you and your sheep. To help further reduce these risks it is required that you wear rubber boots than can be cleaned and disinfected prior to entering the lambing barn, stay at the barn, and will be cleaned and disinfected prior to your departure. In addition, clean coveralls over your clothes that can stay at the lambing barn are required to minimize the movement of organic matter away from the barn as much as possible. Hand washing is always a must and soaps will be provided. If you have an N-95 mask that fits you best please bring your own, otherwise HREC will provide N-95 masks and gloves for your hands on experience.
Registration will open in November 2024
